Homeowner Assistance Program
A particular emphasis is on helping elderly homeowners age in place by making urgently needed home repairs and improvements. Our experienced housing counselors visit clients in their homes to determine the scope of work needed. We maintain a list of reliable contractors, and provide grants and low-interest loans to pay for the work.
When aging-in-place is no longer a safe option, we encourage and help with planning for alternative housing arrangements. Our personal attention often allays clients' anxieties, guides them through bureaucratic red tape, and enables them to make better long term decisions about other living arrangements.
We link seniors with volunteers to help with home maintenance jobs such as painting or yard work, coordinating the efforts of the Catholic Heart Work Camp in Pittsburgh every summer.
Homebuyer Education and Counseling
We offer educational seminars and individual pre-closing counseling for first-time homebuyers. These seminars help qualify lower-income participants for financial assistance from various sources and give them an excellent overview of the home buying process.
Default and Delinquency Counseling
Assistance for homeowners behind in their mortage payment.
We assist with filing the Act 91 application with negotiation for a repayment arrangement with the lender.
